WAGGONIT® Welded wire-mesh and bolt cutter Improved design: increased cutting performance and comfortable multi-component handles. Tried-and-tested model.
Cutter and tube head made of special drop-forged steel. Little effort required. Limit stop with extra large buffer zone. Easy grip on construction steel parts lying flat. Adjustable knives. Welded wire-mesh and bolt cutters, red lacquered.
Useful information about cutters which actually act by cracking
VBW bolt cutters can basically be divided into two designs:
1. Knife head
2. Tube head with handles
The cutting geometry is of decisive importance for the operation of the knife head. In reality the bolt cutter is not a cutter at all. It does not have any sharp blades, so it does not cut, it cracks the material to be separated. After the knife enters the material to be separated, notches can be seen on both sides. These notches result in the material cracking as the separation continues. The separation is directly affected by the cutting angle, cutting radius, cutting width, cutting surface, centeredness of the cutting blades and parallelism of the cutting blades.
The knives undergo 4 heat treatment stages just to achieve the cutting hardness:
Forging: The cropped pieces are initially heated to an extremely high forming temperature.
Annealing: The forging blanks are heated to a controlled annealing temperature and then cooled slowly.
Tempering: The finished knives are heat treated at a high tempering temperature to achieve a high toughness and solidity of the core.
Hardening: The tempered knives are heated above the annealing temperature at the edge layer of the cutting area, chilled and hardened at a lower tempering temperature in order to achieve a great hardness and optimum wearing resistance.
Amongst bolt cutters VBW differentiates two quality levels:
1. Highest quality even for very hard cutting material
2. Affordable quality for the most frequent uses
For a non-compromising cutting performance high alloy CrV special steels, individually produced for VBW, are being used. For the affordable programme a high quality CrV steel is processed, which is ideally suited for most separation tasks. All VBW tube heads use the so-called elbow lever principle for the transmission of manual force to cutting force. The transmitted manual force depends on the elbow lever position, i.e. the more the elbow lever is extended, the greater the force.
All VBW bolt cutters feature a limit stop for the feed motion to protect the knife against hitting, prevent the squeezing of the hands and permit a precise elbow lever setting. Limit stops for opening the knives are also available to provide an upper limit for the given separation range. The tubes used for the handle are connected rigidly with the tube head to make slipping or twisting impossible even under the most extreme loads.
IMPORTANT: The greatest separation force is achieved if the material to be cut is first pre-cut with the tip of the knife head and then readjusted for a second cut. Hold the bolt cutter straight and at right angles for separating.b
